Captain James William Troup (1855-1931) served under Robert Butchart as Assistant Director of Wooden Shipbuilding for the Imperial Munitions Board between 1915 and 1919.
Like Robert Butchart he was also an automobile enthusiast who was was among Victoria’s first car owners.

“OBITUARY
TROUP – The funeral service for Captain James William Troup will be held this afternoon. Leaving his late residence at 2 o’clock, the cortege will proceed to Christ Church Cathedral, where Bishop Schofield will conduct the service at 2:30 o’clock. Interment will be made in Ross Bay Cemetery. The B.C. Funeral Company (Hayward’s) is in charge of the funeral arrangements.”
